Polyphasic Sleep Day 4

Posted by Chris on August 29, 2009

Red Eyes and trying to stay awake 2x per second. I just love the first hour after getting up. I will say my eyes don't hurt like yesterday. But I feel more tired. Its harder to focus yet again. So far I give today a Neutral rating compared to day 3. Now I just have to wait for the day when things start getting better!

6pm: Overall, today was Like the other days. I feel more tired and exhausted though.

Also I'm starting to have doubts as to the adaption. I'm wondering if my body will adapt to less sleep and be normal and productive, or if I will adapt to sleep deprivation and not know the difference.

    Dreams?

Would you be able to perform in an office setting?

    Stick with it!

Ah yes I forgot to mention the Dreams. I will make a note in day 5! Thanks for reminding me. After day 3 the naps all had Dreams. And there is this really weird phase in the first 5 – 10 mins(guessing) of the nap where Dreams and reality kind of blend together.

I am performing in an office setting. I have been going to work at 8 every day during the experiment(save day 4 because it was Saturday). Its because of that lovely 7am nap. After that i feel almost normal and i haven’t noticed any negative effects at my work.

I would not be able to get much done at 2:30 am when i first get up though. But that’s improving.

Thanks for the comment! Your the first.

Hey, no problem. I’m thinking of trying such a schedule. I’m trying to figure out what the implications would be with respect to staying integrated with the rest of the world. Where to sleep? There is no cot at my office. I’m sure it wouldn’t be great sleep etc….

I’ve read of guys that put sleeping bags in their cars or offices. Im lucky to live very close to where i work. So i just drive home for lunch and take my nap then.

On the everyman the integration with the rest of the world didn’t really change much. Sure it was a bit weird when i have to say: “Hey guys ill be back in 25 minutes i have to take a nap”.

    But most of them understand.

Also unlike Uberman, Everyman still feels like i sleep at night and not like time is continuous.

I’ve played with my sleep schedule a fair amount. I always wondered about whether it was me getting used to being sleep deprived, or me actually functioning as well.

    Anyway, I ~feel~ normal…
